Evolution Series™ METRO is an advanced high-speed SDH/SONET microwave radio system. Featuring high scalability, common hardware platform and field-proven architecture, Evolution Series™ METRO is the ideal solution for building cost-effective wireless networks where fiber is not available.
The transmission capacity per ODU is selectable between 155 Mb/s and 311 Mb/s.The scalable multichannel systems, different protection mechanisms, including hitless n+1 protection switch, make Evolution Series™ METRO a perfect choice for mission-critical networks, where high reliability and continuity of service is a must.
Evolution Series™ is built for the future. When the network expands or migrates to IP, the system components can be easily upgraded to provide for broader bandwidth and packet based transmission.

The system offers a wide range of interfaces, including TDM and multichannel scalable Ethernet, which makes the migration from TDM to all-IP easy and smooth. The embedded optional X-connect together with multiple interfaces make Evolution Series™ METRO a full-fledged multiservice, multidirectional radio system.
Evolution Series™ METRO utilises a scalable Universal IFU with plug-in slots for radio interfaces as well as selectable user interfaces. A single system can have up to 8 ODUs, configured as a multi-directional traffic node or as a multi-channel link system.
Interface selection range from E1/T1, E3/DS3, STM-1/OC-3, STM-4/OC-12 or Gigabit Ethernet. The Gigabit Ethernet interface handles up to 600 Mb/s effective throughput with Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme.
With the METRO system, operators can take advantage of the standardised interfaces and interconnect traffic from a microwave based aggregation system to an optical core network without the need for ADM tributaries for the TDM or the Ethernet traffic.
